You are enough as you are

If you ever feel a tad bit diffident, know that you’re not alone in this. You may not exactly feel aplomb, and that’s okay. On days like those, you should be willing to help yourselves. Just close your eyes, take slow breathes and tell yourself “I am enough just the way I am. I have come this far because of my capabilities. I am enough. I have gone through a lot and survived, I deserve to be loved. I may not be perfect, but nobody is and that’s what makes me human.”.

Similar to everything else in life, self love takes practice and time. You cannot fall in love with yourself, and accept the way you are, in a day. It could take ages, but it’s all worth it. We have been taught a certain way of being in the society, a way of being “perfect”. But as times have passed, we have fortunately been realizing that it’s okay to have flaws, and that it’s completely natural.

If you think about it, being “perfect” sounds exhausting anyway. Imagine always having to be flawless, like a robot with impeccable hair and impeccable dance moves. I mean, who needs that kind of pressure? I’d rather have messy hair and do the “dad dance” at parties, thank you very much.

“Perfection is overrated. Besides, who wants to be perfect when you can be interesting?” - Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)
