What is phobic disorder?

A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder that can cause an overwhelming fear of an object, place, animal, feeling, or situation.

Phobias can make day-to-day tasks a little challenging as the person can experience intense distress when faced with the source of their phobia which may also lead to panic attacks.

 

What are some kinds of phobias?

There are several phobias these are a few common ones

1. Acrophobia (fear of heights)

2. Aerophobia (fear of flying)

3. Claustrophobia (fear of crowded spaces)

4. Entomophobia (fear of insects)

5. Glossophobia (fear of public speaking)

6. Mysophobia (fear of gems)


Coping mechanisms

Going to a professional is a really good option in any scenario.

Here are some self-help techniques that may help

1. Breathing exercises

2. Self-help groups

3. Talk openly about your fears

4. Visualize a happy place

5. Face your fears
