What is anxiety?
“Anxiety” most people already know what that term means but for those who don’t the scientific definition for anxiety is “Anxiety may be defined as apprehension, tension, or uneasiness that stems from the anticipation of danger, which may be internal or external”
simply put it’s thejitters you feel while opening a can of bubbling soda it may feel like everything around you is speeding up or slowing down or like your heart is going to barge out of your chest but this may vary from person to person.
How does it affect a person?
Anxiety plays a decently big role in a person’s life but that does not mean that your anxiety defines you.
While having a million things going on in your head but at the same time being as blank as a clean sheet of paper does not make everyday tasks all that easy let alone the difficult ones.
It makes it difficult to do a lot of daily basic things like trying new things, to take a risk; it may also affect your relationships.
What are the symptoms?
Like every other disorder or illness anxiety also has its own set of symptoms or patterns which are very subjective.
Some Common symptoms
· Nervous
· Restless
· Tense
· Trouble concentrating
· Increase in heart rate
· Hyperventilation
· Trembling
Some Uncommon symptoms
· Insomnia
· Cold hands/feet
· Stomach ache
· Indecisiveness
· Avoidance
· Isolating
· Constant yawning
What are methods of coping?
Every one of us has our way of dealing with things and dealing with anxiety is a very good step towards progress not coping with it correctly can also worsen your anxiety but, as bad as it sounds good or bad there is always room to step in the right direction and improving is what we do as humans.
Bad methods of coping
· Criticizing yourself
· Physical harm
· Losing temper
· Undereating /excessive eating
· Catastrophism (assuming the worst)
Better methods of coping
· Exercise
· Eat healthily
· Try and get in touch with how you feel
· Get a professionals help
· Breath
Coping is not a very easy thing everyone moves at a different pace while dealing with a situation so remember to cut yourself some slack every once in a while.
